Alexa Echo will not connect to WiFi? My Alexa Echo was also not connecting to WiFi, I tried every button and icon but it was not working. Then I had to contact the nearest customer center and they told me some fixes which I have explained in the article.

In this article, we’ll troubleshoot why our Echo Dot isn’t connecting to the internet.

In my particular situation, my Echo Dot has been connected and set up and working. I also know that my Wi-Fi hasn’t changed, so there’s no reason why my Echo Dot shouldn’t be working.

Here I have discussed 7 troubleshooting steps for our Alexa not connecting to Wi-Fi.

Alexa Echo will not connect to WiFi Troubleshooting:

Check Internet Connection: Make sure that you have an internet connection in your house. You can easily check this using your cell phone. Go to settings, and see if the Wifi is working. You can do it by clicking and holding the WiFi button on your mobile too. Make sure mobile data is off and your Wifi is connected as shown in the image below.

Check Proximity to Wi-Fi: Ensure your Echo Dot is within range of your Wi-Fi. If it’s far away, try moving it closer. If you have multiple Echo Dots, swap their locations to check Wi-Fi strength. In the above image you can see the signals are full so keep Alexa close to your Wifi device.

Reduce Connected Devices: If you have many devices connected to your Wi-Fi that you’re not using, disconnect WiFi from those devices. It will increase the signal strength and there will be more chances for Alexa to connect to the WiFi.

Verify Wi-Fi Password: Double-check that you’re entering the correct Wi-Fi password. If you are using and setting up Alexa for the first time and it is not connecting to the WiFi then make sure the password you are using is the correct one.

Restart Modem and Router: Restart your modem and router by unplugging the power from the back of them. It will not start working immediately so wait for 5 minutes or possibly 10 minutes if the router is slow.

Then plug them back in. After restarting, ensure internet connectivity on your phone via Wi-Fi. Now try to connect Alexa to Wifi again.

Restart Echo Device: Restart your Echo device by unplugging the power cord from the back, waiting a few seconds, and plugging it back in.

Factory Reset: If the above steps don’t work, do your factory reset on your Echo device. I will write how to do it in a separate article on how to do a factory reset on an Echo Dot third generation.

Testing After Restart:

After performing the necessary troubleshooting steps, test your Echo device by saying, “Alexa, tell me a joke?” Let’s make it funny as I don’t like asking Alexa about weather all the time for testing.

Alexa is now connected to Wifi if it tells you a joke.

If these 7 troubleshoots are not working then try restarting Alexa and then follow the above instructions.

Conclusion:

These are the seven troubleshooting steps to fix the Alexa Echo that will not connect to the WiFi Network Issue.
